Hi arks, they were taken in my garden in Potchefstroom. Unfortunately I don't know the sort of tree. I'm not that clued up with trees. Sorry. It is a big tree, with leaves that remind me of 'Karee' trees, which I grew up with. But I don't think it is a Karee tree.
It is at this stage alive with birds, including bulbuls, thrushes, mousebirds etc, all eating the berries. I love watching the goings on.
I took the trapeze photo in the morning, and that afternoon the nest was almost finished. So fast.
The first photo is of a finished nest of the same nest builder. The female has already laid eggs there I think.
The nest maker had a huge standoff with the crested barbet the other day, who came snooping around but had to leave, tail between the legs, so to speak, after the weaver made it known that he was not welcome at all. :D

You sure have plenty of drama in your garden, mel! 8) (I think your tree might be a pepper tree, but I'm not that clued-up on RSA trees — and I think it's an alien anyway :( , but clearly a popular food source for birds!)

Can someone please ID this bird for me?

Seen on May 14th at Grootkolk in the Kgalagadi TP.

Appears to be a Yellow Weaver, but it should not be...... ??

Thanks in advance anyone.

Hu Suej, with the red eye, I can only go with female Southern Masked Weaver. Yellow Weaver would be far out of range.

Many thanks wildtuinman! I can see it now, especially the red eye. I knew the SMW was out of range but then again, as is often said: "birds don't read books"!

No prob, Sue.

The Yellow Weaver's habitat is much more different from what you would expect to find in the Kgalagadi. It prefers coastal plains and riverine areas.

Here is a photo of a male taken in Umhlanga on the KZN North Coast.

Thanks again wildtuinman - lovely pic of your weaver.

I don't know why I even suggested Yellow Weaver, as on my own blog I had the bird already listed as a Southern-Masked ! It must be something to do with age

Anyway many thanks for your help.
