All those tents have a great view but I guess Lourie is more favoured because you don't often hear cars driving pass and it's referred to be "away from other tents".

The overall appearance of all tents have been recently renovated and the monkeys no longer vandalise kitchens because cupboards have been fitted with locking doors.

What a magnificent place!!!!!! We just came back from long weekend at TLOPI Camp stayed in Jacana , neat , clean fantastic view over the full dam
must be better to visit after winter just before summer rainfall because veld was dense no ellies or rhinos .

thanks to previous trip reports it was the right descion made

Hi,

Yes we going there this weekend hope we get to see some animals and tick a few off the bird list.

Just got back from marakele last night and had some great sightings of ellies with a new special for us in a spotted gennet visiting the camp. As usual it was a most enjoyable and restful experience.

Just be careful of the monkeys. They are very clever and will try and get anything to eat.

Before we knew it one stole some biscuits and made a run for it.

Up at Thlopi these little black faced devils can be very naughty but fortunately their big cousins, baboon & co, are pretty skittish and our experience have been that they tend to scamper away from humans, even in vehicles.

In Bontle they have managed to keep them away and scared of humans.

Greetings all. My SO and I are lucky enough to be spending a weekend at Tlopi on the 15th Oct Having never been there I am interested to find out if the dam in front of the tents have croc and hippo. Any feedback would be most welcome!

I'm under correction but i don't think they have croc or hippo in the dam.

Hi Horrace. There are no hippos or crocs in the dam when I visited Marakele last year, but there are a number of things around the water.

During our visit, we saw a number of Water Monitors and a Fish Eagle. Then there is also the mountain...

These are some of the things we saw at the dam, then there is the road up the mountain... (not the one in image 5).

PS. Beware the monkeys. The are very clever.

Hi Leeukos, sweet memories of this place only by looking at your pics, specialy the mountain. It was very scarry to get up there, but was a big wow. Realy amazing.

Thanx for the pics Leeukos. This is one of the rare occasions when I'm going to the bush for the bush's sake and what I see or don't see is not the priority. Hoping just to relax on the deck and take in nature. If i'm lucky I may get a shot similar to yours of a Fish Eagle, looking forward to trying
