On Saturday 15 November 2008, the Honorary Rangers of the Bushveld region in Phalaborwa, held their Annual General Meeting in Letaba Rest Camp in Kruger National Park (KNP).

Update On West Rand Honorary Rangers Birding Weekend 2009

Booking opened on Wednesday 18th June for the 2009 West Rand Honorary Rangers birding weekend and by Thursday 19th June it was 90% full. Thankfully most guests provided four camp choices - Punda Maria, Crocodile Bridge and Lower Sabie could have been filled four times over! We now have 660 guests accommodated in nineteen camps over two weekends.
Honorary Rangers Contribute R12 Million To National Parks

From January 1 to December 31 last year, the Honorary Ranger’s (HR) corps contributed more than R12 million to the coffers of SANParks. This is 11 percent more than 2006. About R4 million is made up of ‘indirect’ costs that are incurred when HRs stay in the parks while performing duties or working on projects. Janssen Davies, chairman of the HR, also highlighted other milestones for the year in his report presented at the annual general meeting (AGM) which was held at Berg-en-Dal in the Kruger National Park (KNP) on May 24, 2008.
National Quiz winners

Once again, as it has happened in the past, the Honorary Rangers National Quiz team have walked away with the accolades. The quiz was held between two HR teams and two teams from SANParks.

The cricket oval near Skukuza is a hidden gem, carefully maintained in amidst the Kruger bushveld. The players? An assorted bunch of Scientists, Rangers, Field Guides and community members from Skukuza, the Northern Region and the SANParks online forum, who will be playing cricket to raise funds for SANParks!
HR NEC and Chairpersons Meet in GGHNP

GPS Technology for Namaqua National Park

iKAPA Honorary Rangers Eileen and Paul van Helden donated 4 global positioning system units (etrex Garmin GPS) to Namaqua National Park manager Bernard van Lente on 11 January 2008. These small units are about the size of a thick cell phone and are extremely robust and user friendly.
